Kevin Schindler, historian and public information officer at Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, is a member of the Flagstaff history and science communities and currently serves on the board of the Flagstaff Dark Skies Coalition. He has authored nine books, including
Historic Tales of Flagstaff,
and contributes a bi-weekly astronomy column, “View from Mars Hill,” for the
Arizona Daily Sun
newspaper. In May 2023, he served as Astronomer in Residence at the Grand Canyon, and in 2026 was awarded the Copper Quill Award by the Friends of the Flagstaff City-Coconino County Public Library.
