In Their Own Words
The funding provided by The Sedona Women through the Helen Wolfe Scholarship is so greatly appreciated by our recipients. These are women in our local community, striving to better themselves – and often the lives of their families as well. They are re-entering students whose education has been interrupted for some reason. They are attending, or planning to attend, academic or vocational programs at a variety of accredited institutions. Past and current recipients have had career goals such as nursing, trauma counseling, teaching, viticulture, culinary arts, advanced canine training, personal training, cosmetic laser technician, cosmetology and more. Their own words convey how much this assistance means to them:
“I could not be here, taking these classes, accomplishing goals, and pursuing my dreams if it weren’t for The Sedona Women. Thank you so much. The blessings of financial support make such a difference. Even the communication and updates are supportive. I often feel comforted knowing there is this community with me. I so deeply wish to convey the gratefulness I feel.”
“Receiving the Helen Wolfe Scholarship would be an honor as I could put it towards bettering my education by obtaining more study material, a new laptop, scrubs, fuel, and expenses, which gives me an opportunity to not stress about more work hours. Scholarships serve as a motivator and reminder that I am capable of my goals and dreams.”
“There are not many scholarship opportunities for graduate degrees in my field, so I am taking out student loans with the aspiration to get a fulfilling career. This scholarship can help me worry less about paying back my loans, help me spend more time with my family while creating a new life to show my children the importance of education.”
“Becoming ill with Covid and the loss of earnings due to my inability to return to work resulted in my not being able to complete my college studies. My educational goals and pursuit of a teaching credential were temporarily interrupted. A Helen Wolfe Scholarship from The Sedona Women would help make it possible for me to complete my studies and satisfy the outstanding requirements for a teaching credential in secondary science.”
